U.S. consumers began to slow their spending in April after the strongest month since early 2023, while inflation remained subdued, data showed, in line with a slowing economy. U.S. real personal consumption expenditures rose 0.1 percent in April after rising 0.7 percent month-on-month, data showed on Friday. The U.S. core PCE price index rose 0.1 percent month-on-month in April from the previous month. Compared with the same period last year, the U.S. core PCE price index recorded an annualized rate of 2.5 percent in April, the smallest annual increase in more than four years.
