A Michigan man who used cryptocurrency to fund terrorist organizations faces up

On July 9th, according to the official announcement of the Department of Justice, Jibreel Pratt, a 26-year-old man from Michigan, pleaded guilty today to two counts, including intending to donate cryptocurrency to the foreign terrorist organization ISIS. According to the plea agreement, in February 2023, Pratt took the initiative to have a phone call with a classified person who Pratt believed could assist him in going abroad and joining ISIS. Over the next few months, Pratt expressed his desire to join ISIS and recorded a video to swear allegiance. In March and May 2023, Pratt sent cryptocurrency to classified personnel with the intention of using the money to help support the commission of violent acts. Sentencing will be handed down on November 13, 2025, and Jibreel Pratt faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
