Richard Blumenthal, a Democratic senator from Connecticut, said: "We do need to replenish stockpiles, but the solution is to speed up production, not cut off supplies to Ukraine." One European official said a Nato ally had urged the Pentagon to reconsider the decision. John Herbst, director of the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council, said the US move contradicted a series of tough actions taken by Mr. Trump and his team last week.
