Michael Spencer, the 2001 Nobel laureate in economics, said in a wired speech about artificial intelligence (AI) that the gap between China and the United States is rapidly narrowing. China and the United States are the two most important countries in driving AI forward, but other countries such as the United Kingdom have actually made progress and are becoming more and more accessible. Spencer believes that the most important thing is to ensure that AI is not limited to certain companies or industries, and hopes to deploy AI throughout the economy to increase productivity widely.
