Argentine court freezes assets of LIBRA Meme-related point persons, lifts bank s
According to Cryptoslate, a federal judge in Argentina has ordered the freezing of the assets of the LIBRA meme project point person and the lifting of bank secrecy for President Javier Milei and his sister in an investigation into alleged fraud.
Judge María Servini issued a ruling on May 14 to investigate the project's alleged "pull-up shipment" operation. In February this year, after Milei publicly supported the coin on social media, the market value of LIBRA briefly exceeded $4.50 billion, but then the price of the currency plummeted by more than 85%, and liquidity quickly disappeared.
The court imposed a 90-day asset freeze on three key figures, including Novelli, barring them from transferring or selling their assets, as opposition lawmakers called for an independent investigation into the president's involvement.
